JOEL WITZMAN is an accomplished civil litigator with over 27 years of experience representing national retailers and franchisors, security companies, vehicle dealerships, rehabilitation and skilled nursing facilities, REIT’s, RV resorts, airlines, construction trades, general contractors, building product and amusement park ride manufacturers and engineers, and various insured and self-insured entities throughout California in both litigation and general counsel roles. His practice includes general liability claims as well as Unruh Act, FEHA, ADA, discrimination, aviation, Montreal Convention, wrongful death, personal injury, premises liability, and class action defense ranging from products liability to discrimination to finance law claims.
Joel has handled claims from pre-litigation through trial, writs and appeals, including to the California Supreme Court, and heads the firm’s law and motion department – crafting winning motions from demurrers to summary judgments in cases involving catastrophic injury, third-party criminal conduct, landlord-tenant issues, assumption of the risk, and product defects among others. Joel is a member of the Claims and Litigation Management Alliance.
